Commercialisation Pathways Program

In the 2022/23 Budget, the NSW Treasurer announced the creation of the Future Economy Fund, an unprecedented investment in the full life cycle of innovative high-growth businesses, starting from R&D and commercialisation, through to business growth, upskilling and export opportunities.

The Future Economy Fund will support priority sectors and emerging high-value industries through the Commercialisation Pathways Program and the Innovation Research Acceleration Program.

Commercialisation Pathways Program (CPP)

The CPP delivers grants to drive the commercialisation of highly innovative and new products, processes or services that are at least at prototype or minimum viable product stage.

Funding will be provided over four years, providing targeted support to the small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector in NSW, including startups and scaleups.

The Office of the NSW Chief Scientist & Engineer delivers the following programs under the CPP:

  • The Biosciences Fund (BioSF), a four-year, $40 million find providing up to $10 million each year to companies to progress innovation technologies, devices and systems towards commercialisation within NSW in areas including biotechnology and life sciences, biomanufacturing, synthetic biology and agri-food.
  • The Physical Sciences Fund (PSF) provides up to $10 million to companies to progress innovation technologies, devices and systems towards commercialisation within NSW across the branches of the physical sciences and engineering, including physics, chemistry, astronomy and the earth sciences.
  • The Quantum Computing Commercialisation Fund (QCCF) provides up to $7 million and is a single round, competitive technology development and commercialisation program focused on quantum computing.
