Carbonix has developed Domani, Australia’s first heavy-lifting, long-range powered-life ‘small’ fixed wing drone, offering an economical alternative to commercial manned flight operations, weighing 25 kilograms. Domani will be capable of flying for up to 15 hours, carry five kilograms in sophisticated sensor payload, fly beyond visual line of sight missions and is able to take off or land anywhere with powered-lift capabilities.
HoneLab & AI Platform
Hone has created a chemistry lab that attaches to the back of a smartphone. Using AI cloud-based systems coupled to on-site portable hardware, winemakers can measure the composition of solids and liquids, get results immediately and make instant decisions about their vintage without having to send the sample to a lab.
Magnetic Resonance Analyser
NextOre’s magnetic resonance (MR) analysers are sophisticated devices designed for use in the mining industry. MR analysers are fitted to mining equipment and produce real-time, accurate measurements of metal concentration in ore as it travels through the mine.
The University of Newcastle’s Hydro Harvester is a simple, low-cost device enabling the production of water from air. It will produce water at less than a quarter of the price per litre of a small residential AWG running on NSW grid electricity.
SMaRT Microfactories Recycled Glass Panel Line
UNSW Sydney’s SMaRT Centre will use its microrecycling science to develop viable solutions to reform waste materials into value-added products for use in the build environment. The ceramic-based panel products are made from a variety of waste materials including waste glass, single use coffee cups, used coffee grounds and waste textiles.

BioScout Automated Airborne Disease Tracking System
The BioScout system is an integrated hardware and software platform that uses ground-based data and artificial intelligence to track and analyse the spread of airborne diseases on farm fields. BioScout’s integrated platform allows farmers to be efficient with their fungicide use by optimising the timing and quantity of sprays used, ultimately giving farmers the best chance of increasing their profitability and productivity.
Direct Contactless Microfabrication (DCM)
MicroTau prints microscopic patterns inspired by nature to reduce drag and produce properties including anti-fouling, antibacterial and self-cleaning effects. It prints these microscopic patters with light and is scalable to cover large surfaces to improve the efficiency of aircraft, ships and wind turbines.
Quasar Ground Stations
Quasar Satellite Technologies’ digital phased array technology can potentially link to hundreds of satellites simultaneously using a single installation. This technology, once mature, will provide mission support for multiple satellite constellations at the same time, alleviating the ground station bottleneck and opening the flood gates to enormous downstream information flow for anyone wishing to utilise space-derived data.
ZetiCell and ZetiRover
The ZetiCell is a solar-powered Wi-Fi small cell that delivers high bandwidth connectivity to rural and remote areas, providing farmers and other residents with significant economic, safety and social benefits.

Defy-Hi Robotics has developed the BEAR robotic system to do dangerous, dull and dirty work of cleaning and inspecting high-rise buildings. The BEAR allows safe access to commercial buildings for smart autonomous façade inspections and window cleaning. The robotic system includes a mounting system, a carriage and functional platform, and window cleaning and façade inspection attachments. The PSF funding will be used for making the BEAR autonomous, as well as incorporating artificial intelligence into key functional operations.
Series Wave One
Growave is pioneering the use of highly efficient microwave energy to remove weeds and seedbanks, and control disease. Growave’s sustainable, chemical-free approach is a real alternative to chemical herbicides. It is also more effective, penetrating the target and permanently destroying the cell structure from the inside. Growave will use funding to expand and improve its current Alpha unit, which has demonstrated successful results in recent on-farm trials in NSW.
Hullbot One System
The Hullbot One System performs a diverse range of tasks include daily grooming of hulls, 4D inspections and surveys of underwater structures and environmental management. The robot can navigate and localise itself underwater without human input and is deployed and retracted autonomously from an above-surface pod.
‘Next-generation’ Water Electrolyser for Renewable ‘Green’ Hydrogen Production
Hysata is developing a new type of electrolyser that promises to overcome the limitations of existing electrolysers and deliver the world’s lowest cost green hydrogen. This technology has the potential to give Australia world-beating capacity in hydrogen production technology, with direct and indirect employment and major export potential.

LLEAF is developing new agricultural film that optimises the use of one of our biggest natural resources, sunlight. It uses material with different dyes to shift non-optimal wavelengths of sunlight to wavelengths that enhance plant growth.
MPT AgTech ‘Smart Seeder’
The MPT AgTech ‘Smart Seeder’ integrates soil moisture sensing technology into a self-adjusting seeder to accurately manage seed placement. The Smart Seeder captures live data using smart sensing tines and analyses this data with an on-board processor that feeds information to an electronically controlled smart row unity that uses an algorithm to vary the depth of seed placement constantly and automatically.

Long-range WiFi System
Roobuck and The University of Sydney are collaborating to commercialise the world’s first long-range high-rate WiFi system compatible with conventional WiFi devices. The novel long-range WiFi system will significantly expand broadband coverage in underground mines, increasing both productivity and safety.

‘Next-generation’ Water Electrolyser for Renewable ‘Green’ Hydrogen Production
Hysata has developed a new electrolyser to deliver the world’s lowest cost green hydrogen, through a process that splits water with renewable electricity. This technology gives Australia the potential to be a world leader in green hydrogen production, which is expected to be a critical pillar of the net zero global economy. The 2022 PSF funding will be used to optimise the membrane component of its electrolyser, which will significantly increase hydrogen output and further strengthen its commercial viability.
SiteHive Real-time Environment Management
SiteHive has developed a digital, multi-sensor monitor that measures noise and dust for construction projects, providing continuous real-time data, including images and audio, in one device known as the Hexanode, supported by innovative online software.
SiteHive gives managers eyes and ears across their sites, allowing them to make quick, confident decisions from wherever they are, and proactively prevent potential environmental incidents occurring.

Improved harvest predictions for horticulture in NSW
The Yield is an agricultural technology company that use scalable digital technology to reduce the impacts of uncertainty created by weather on food waste across the entire food supply chain. The Yield’s ‘Digital Playbooks’ provide land managers with on-farm yield productions and recommendations using AI based on real weather data and the agronomical needs of crops. This allows its customers to do more with less, with an average 10 per cent increase in farmgate value.
ZV2X – Zetifi Vehicle-to-Everything Platform
ZetiLink is a new platform technology providing the connectivity performance required by the rapidly growing connected and autonomous vehicle market. It represents a major step forward for vehicular radiofrequency (RF) technology, taking it from a basic signal receiver to a modern antenna array and RF control module that uses machine learning to actively and intelligently determine the optimal configuration for the vehicle.
