What are the reporting and deliverable requirements of the feasibility study phase?
At a minimum, NSW Health would like to see a validated glossary being used in a clinical area rather than normal natural language processing exercise. A validated glossary is one that uses clinical terms and can be understood in at least one CALD language.
Can existing apps and programs such as CALD Assist address this challenge?
Apps such as CALD Assist are a good starting point but are not fit for purpose for this challenge. For example, some apps allow a provider to speak to a patient in their language but will not translate the patient's response back to the provider.
The solution must consider its application in real-life hospital settings, where people are unwell and potentially stressed. The right solution will need to consider this additional complexity and be easy to use in these types of settings.
