In April 2023, the Hon. Rose Jackson MLC, Minister for Water and the Hon. Penny Sharpe MLC, Minister for the Environment requested that the Office of the NSW Chief Scientist & Engineer (OCSE) conduct an Independent Review into the February-March 2023 fish deaths in the Darling-Baaka River, Menindee.

Community consultations

In conducting the Review, OCSE will be undertaking consultation sessions with stakeholders and community groups in western NSW. OCSE wants to hear from a wide range of community members and associations as well as industry representative groups, local councils and broader associations.

Call for submissions

Submissions are invited on any matter related to the Review Terms of Reference.

Submissions to the Review can either be public (freely available to be viewed online and as part of the report) or confidential. Please indicate your preference as part of your submission.

The closing date for submissions is 5pm AEST Friday 7 July 2023.
